What began as a small roadside stall selling homegrown plants and vegetables has grown into a beloved destination for gardeners, families, and visitors alike. Today, Homeleigh offers not just everything you need for your garden, but also a selection of cafés, aquatics, pet supplies, homeware, and much more.

From Greenhouse to Garden Centre – The Homeleigh Story

The journey of Homeleigh started in 1977 in Launceston, when founders Derek and Enis Broad began selling plants and vegetables from a milk stand outside their house. Everything they sold was grown in their own greenhouse, and the demand for their plants quickly grew. In 1983, after securing the necessary planning permissions, the family opened their first official garden centre, which marked the beginning of what would become Homeleigh Garden Centre.

As the business expanded, the house Derek and Enis lived in was transformed into the Homeleigh Restaurant, and additional buildings were added to accommodate the ever-growing selection of products available. Over time, Launceston became home to a wide range of departments, including cafés, aquatics, pet supplies, furniture, homeware, angling, clothing, hairdressers, a podiatry and health clinic, estate agents, car wash, and self-storage facilities. Most recently, the Launceston site welcomed a Cotton Traders store, continuing to evolve and serve the needs of the local community.
