Our Story

Homeleigh Garden Centre is one of the South West’s largest family run Garden Centres. Started in 1977 by Derek and Enis Broad, selling plants and vegetables on a milk stand outside their house which were grown in their greenhouse.

Once planning permission was granted in 1983 to trade as a garden centre, Homeleigh grew rapidly stocking all the essentials needed for your garden.

The house which Derek and Enis lived in was converted to the Homeleigh Restaurant and additional buildings put up to accommodate the ever increasing range of products which Homeleigh sold (Aquatics, Furniture, Homeware, Angling, Clothing).

Rob Broad joined his parents in running the garden centre and has overseen further expansion (Foodhall and Fat Hippo Cafe) as well as acquiring Homeleigh’s second store in Crediton in 2017. In September 2018 Homeleigh expanded even further with the acquisition of Bude Garden Centre near Stratton.

Homeleigh employs over 100 staff and with over 40 departments you can find everything you need for your garden, home, pets, gift and much more.
