? WHAT TO PLANT THIS OCTOBER ?

October is a great time to get planting. Bedding in plants before winter can be a great time to establish them in the ground.

✓ Shrubs – Autumn is the perfect month for shrubs with the earth still warm and cool air promoting root growth. You will find them well established when spring comes.

✓ Fruit Trees – Get your fruit trees in and established before the wintery weather takes hold. This can lead to great summer success. Whether it is blueberries, apples or plums, planting them now will give them time to develop.

✓ Lawn Care – October is a good month to fill in bald spots on your lawn with seed, just make sure you scarify and aerate your lawn before you lay seed. Water and fertilise your lawn to give them time to grow in before the cold comes.

✓ Flowers Forever – You can plant out your spring flowering bulbs in October; Alliums, Snowdrops and Narcissus are particularly lovely. We also have Pansy, Violas and Primula bedding packs in stock for a spot of colour over the cooler months.

You might think planting out in October is a no-no, but it can be a great time. Get plants of all types established before the winter sets in to help make for an excellent spring and summer.
