WHAT TO PLANT THIS FEBRUARY

Is 2019 the year to transform your garden? Do you dream of sunny days surrounded by the aroma of summer blooms?

Here’s what you can get started with in February:

✓ Meadow flowers – Wild meadow flower seed mixes can be sown when the soil has warmed, which is usually from the end of February to April.

✓ Perennials – Pot grown perennials can be planted out as long as the ground isn’t frozen or waterlogged. Also consider lifting and dividing any snowdrops that have finished flowering as this will keep the plant healthy and enable you to multiply it.

✓ Roses – Pot grown roses can be planted as long as the ground isn’t frozen or overly dry. Try the popular Zephirin Drouhin and Champagne Moment varieties.

✓ Shrubs – many evergreen and deciduous shrubs can be planted over the winter months, such as hydrangeas.

✓ Summer flowering bulbs – buy now in preparation for planting in the spring.

Always check your seed packets or individual plant information because sowing and planting instructions can vary between different varieties.
