PRUNING ENGLISH LAVENDER
PRUNING ENGLISH LAVENDER
As we come into late-August and your lavender flowers are beginning to fade, it’s time to start thinking about pruning to prevent a leggy plant next year.
English lavender benefits from a fairly hard prune at this time of year by cutting back the stems by around two thirds to form a more compact shape. Don’t cut it back completely – make sure you can still see some of the new green growth.
Use clean secateurs and remove the offcuts.
