💐 HOW TO PLANT TULIP BULBS FOR A DAZZLING SPRING DISPLAY 💐

If you want to fill your garden with springtime colour, then tulips provide the ideal solution.

The bulbs are easy to plant, and the flowers come up reliably year after year. You’re also spoilt for choice when it comes to the varieties and colours available.

WHERE TO PLANT

To enjoy the flowers for as long as possible, choose a sheltered spot in full sun.

Tulips grow best in fertile soil in beds and borders. You can also plant bulbs in pots and containers to create a pretty patio display. Some varieties can even be naturalised in grass.

WHEN TO PLANT

Tulip bulbs should be planted from October to December in well-drained earth. The cold temperatures help to get rid of any viral or fungal diseases in the soil that could infect the bulbs.

HOW TO PLANT

Plant your tulip bulbs at three times the depth of the bulb’s height with around 5cms between each bulb – pointy end up. Plant in swathes. The more bulbs you plant, the more eye-catching the display.

CHOOSE YOUR COLOUR SCHEME

With so many varieties to choose from, you can design your own colour scheme. Focus on shades of lilacs and purple for a sophisticated display or mix bright yellows and reds for big bursts of colour.
