Filtration
In order for fish and aquatic life to survive, an appropriate fish tank filter is needed for removal of physical and soluble chemical waste products. Fish come from natural environments in which waste matter is dispersed and diluted, so toxic ammonia levels don’t arise. But in a small volume of water placed inside a closed container, ammonia can rise to toxic levels. Aquarium filters will help with both maintenance and with helping your fish survive. The water also needs to be aerated which is something aquarium water filters can help with.
It’s important to match a filter to your tank size, for optimal and efficient filtration. Internal filters or an under gravel filter are suitable for small to medium aquariums, but for large aquariums, external filters will be required.
Here at Homeleigh, we stock a number of internal & external filter systems along with a huge range of filter media and foams - everything you need to get started or simply maintain an existing filter.
